I NEED hockey

To show you how desperate I am for some hockey. This is what I'm reduced to. Poking around in the Olympic news coverage (which in Canada pretty much consists of hockey, more hockey and did I mention Hockey. Not that I'm complaining.)

And of course, since I'm a girl, I get distracted by the pretty scenery. So let the drooling begin. (For the guys reading this these are posted for informational purposes. [grin])

Living in Denial

I've had my head in the sand for long enough now. It's time for me to suck it up, and accept the cold hard facts. The Stars have actually lost their "Icewater In the Veins" Russian. [sheds single tear]

Here's a link, [Sergei Zubov is going to Russia] in case you haven't seen it anywhere on the internet.

Honestly, I fear for the Power Play. I know what it looked like last year, without him. And now that we know we're not getting him back for sure. Well, I'm having a hard time, not losing all hope. Surely somewhere, there's someone, some "masked PP 'Lone Ranger' type" who can drop in and fill the void when we need it most. [hint, sooner rather than later, please]

High Ho Silver [sniffle] Away.

Obligatory "I'm still alive" post.

Yes, I'm still alive.

The reason I love, the Pengins.

The proven Defense is gone, Sykora's gone now I see. What's in store for next year for the "greatest fans in hockey".

I guess I'll stay tuned.

Draft

It seems I always have an opinion on this sort of thing. Well, don't fall off your chairs. But not really this year.

My analysis is being reserved, till after I watch, read, listen to (without so much hype) what exactly we got, in the draft this year.

Will I end up being wrong, yes, most probably. Everyone is wrong, when they predict how well anyone did in a draft. It's how close you get to right that counts in the long run.

Possible Destinations for Marion Hossa in 2009-2010

Well, leopards are known for not changing their spots, once their set in there ways. I'm wondering if Mr. Chicken Shit Marion Hossa is any different. Shall we ponder the possibilities, he might have on his plate for this off season.

1. New York Yankees - Reason - A Championship winning dynasty. Who wouldn't want a piece of that? Their collection of league Championship titles is massive. So is their smug superiority complex. He should fit right in.

2. NE Patriots - Reason - As close to the Detroit Red wings, as you can get. Without being the Detroit Red Wings. Their surrounded by the same sort of "love em, or hate em" fan mentality. and we all know how happy Hossa was with his decision to become a Red Wing... Oh wait. That didn't turn out so well, did it. [hysterical gut busting laughter... no, just kidding]

3. Steelers - Reason - Pittsburgh really has the momentum in there corner, now. A Superbowl, the first of many more Stanley Cups. The Pens however, keep ignoring his pleading, weeping phone messages. So in desperation, to be close to that much coveted cup. He's trying to beg a job with the Steelers.

4. LA Lakers - Reason - I've heard from "relieable sources" that he's been trolling for a spot in the NBA draft. So he can join them for their next Championship run. Some how I think they'll be in the same very small boat with the Red Wings next year. The boat being a collection of "not quite good enough". (I do not follow basketball, so I reserve the right for these statements to be in error. Enjoy your laughs.)

5. Jimmie Johnsons pit crew - Reason - This one's pretty low on the list. His original plan was to replace Jimmie. Since that got vetoed in a HURRY by NASCAR's head honchos. (seems his lack of a US drivers license had something to do with it. Well that, and no one can understand what he's saying because of the "non-southern" accent. Y'all").

6. Tyson Chicken - Reason - He seems to have the environmentally friendly ability to store MASSIVE AMOUNTS of chicken shit, in the space between his ears, which should be taken up with his brain.

The End.

This...

Alarms me -

"Tip was definitely a player's coach," Morrow told the AP. "We all respected him for that. Now we have coach Crawford, who has more of a dictatorship than Tip had. I think that is Nieuwendyk's impression that is the direction we needed." ~ Brenden Morrow

I'm concerned, with that choice of descriptive term.

Support for Malkin

For MVP.

And in the form of my FAVORITE Dallas Stars pest, too.

Made my day.

You can catch audio of it HERE. (Fast forward to toward the end.)

My thoughts on the summer ahead...

Is anyone else just the slightest bit annoyed that on Monday nights show, David Letterman's announcer referred to him as "the Stanley Cup Con-Smyth Trophy Winner".

Well, I am!!

WOOO!!!!!!! HOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

We Pens fans have a Stanley Cup (as if 1/2 the world doesn't know that yet.)

My comments on this WONDERFUL event, are in visual form below.

The Detroit Redwings have no idea how to spend the offseason.

Happy Birthday

To Mike Modano. He turns 39 today.

Look when you've been involved in a sport for as long as he has. You've put in the hours, dedicated your life, energy and soul to something like he has.

You've earned the right to retire or not retire whenever, and however you damn well please. Not have disgruntled fans, harping news media or anyone else tell you how or when you've had enough. It's your sport, your career, your contract, your body, and your heart. Let those things lead you. Not what anyone else says.

This is one of my personal favorites. It played on the Big Screen at the AAC.

So with that being said. Welcome back, to the Stars. Lets make another run at that Cup, shall we guys. We're all out here cheering you on.

GO STARS!!!

Third times a charm.

Ok, so now I've done it twice. I guess that means I have to keep at it. Right? Of course it does. Pens need another win so I write another post. and "The Third Time is ALWAYS the Charm," Right? Exactly.

We now have to officially count me among the superstitious.

So I'm perusing the internet, reading, poking around for strange and odd information about the SCF. Well what should I find but this article -

(check out the 4th paragraph down. and you have to click on the picture to enlarge it. So you can see it. It's lightly underlined. Look close. Are you laughing yet?)

On the Swedish news site "Expression". One of my favorite stops on the internet for those interesting little tidbits of "personal" news for all your favorite (or not so favorite) Hockey Players hailing from the awesome (if rather chilly) country of Sweden.

(Yes, I have to translate it. Because the only Swedish I know is the term "Do you speak English?" [Although, for a good portion of the Swedish Hockey players, speaking (in any language) is not a requirement.]

It Seems...

I have a new superstition.

Well, as all of you know. I'm quite lazy about posting around here. In fact, it usually only happens when I'm bored, have nothing else to do or (and this is usually the catalyst) I am so very fed up with something going on in the sports world, that I have to write about it or burst.

Such is not the case for this post.

In fact now, I have a reason (and a very good one at that) to cause me to post this post. (Get ready for it) THE PENS NEED TO WIN ANOTHER GAME!!!!

Yes, that's right. They do. I did a post on Tues, and they end up winning the game. So guess what. Yup, that's right. Now I have to do a post for every game or they might not win. Oh well, what's a girl to do. Superstition has won me over.

Tune in next time where we'll find out - "Does this blog really affect karma (or some other deity)?"

I'm sure you all just can't wait to find out.
